How to play the Oz Lotto

To play the Australian Lottery you need to choose seven numbers from a pool of 45 balls. When the lottery was launched, just six numbers were drawn, much like other lottery draws around the world but in 2005 the decision was made to increase the number to seven to create bigger jackpots. Match all seven balls and win the Oz Lotto jackpot. There are also two bonus balls drawn and these count towards smaller division prizes.

Oz Lotto Jackpots

Odds of winning the Australian Lottery stand at around one in 45 million, a number much increased by the adding of the seventh number to the draw in 2005. This however, comes with the flip side of creating big rollover jackpots and lots of interest in the draws and means that the lottery and rollovers have created some big winners. Overall odds of winning a prize in the Oz Lotto are fairly attainable at one in 55.

The Australian Lottery operates under many names across Australia including Super 7’s in Tattersalls jurisdictions, Oz 7 Lotto and still Oz Lotto in most Australian states. It is without a doubt the nation’s favourite and most loved lottery, having created jackpots as high as the $90 million record won in late June last year and caused a stir all around the lottery world.
